An Overview Of New Performance App For The HTC One S

The HTC One S is an excellent new smartphone with a range of superb features. The problem with a phone offering such a wide array of software and accessories is that they can all have a negative effect on the battery life and the performance of the model. Bitdefender Power Tune Up is an excellent new application for this phone that helps users to make the most of battery capacity and manage their data usage on this model.

There are a number of tricks and tips that can be applied to the settings of the HTC One S to optimise the performance of the phone but the new Bitdefender application does everything for you. This new piece of software is available for free from Google Play and is an excellent accessory for this phone or indeed any other Android device. There are a number of ways to use the application to enhance the battery life delivered by your phone. Users can specify periods of time when certain features of the phone are disabled and therefore place less strain on the battery. Typically this will be during the night when the phone may not be in use but when some features are still activated in case they are needed. In addition to this the phone will also switch into a special power saving mode when the battery level reaches a specified level. This may prove particularly useful for users who may be travelling and have no means of connecting their phone to a PC or a mains charger.

In addition to helping to preserve the battery life of the HTC One S Bitdefender also offers some useful tools that help users to keep track of their data usage. Many modern mobile contracts include a limited data allowance and once this is exceeded the costs can be very expensive to the user. Bitdefender also features a very handy clean up tool which is perfect for people who may be running a little low on storage capacity. This feature gives users a simple screen where they can delete data from the phones internal storage capacity and an external micro SD card if one is being used. Applications can also be deleted from within this area of the application. To help users get the most from this app widgets can be added to the home screen that allow the power saving modes to be easily activated and for data to be monitored without needing to physically launch the application.

Bitdefender Power Tune Up is a great application for the new HTC One S. The software helps users make the most of the limited battery life on the phone and also enables the easy management of data and files.

The HTC One X And The Nokia Lumia 900 Benefit From Modern Styling

Over the past three years the Android operating system and the iOS platform used by Apple phones have enjoyed dominance in the smartphone market. Recently we have seen a number of improvements on the Windows operating system and in 2012 the platform is hoping to provide much more of a challenge to the likes of Android and iOS. We take a look at the new Nokia Lumia 900, the flagship Windows device in the Nokia range and see how it compares with the HTC One X, the premium Android device from HTC.

There is very little to choose between these two devices in terms of design. Both models sport modern styling combined with some excellent build quality. The Nokia Lumia 900 is basically a larger version of the popular Lumia 800 device that was launched earlier in the year. The handset sports a very angular design that is in stark contrast to many of the more rounded devices that are currently available. The chassis of the phone is made from a single piece of polycarbonate which is very tough and also very light which helps the handset weigh in at a very impressive 160 grammes. The model has been released in a selection of different colours to help give consumers a little more choice over the appearance of their phone. The HTC One X boasts a totally different type of styling from the One X but one that is equally as appealing. The model features more curves than the Nokia but the handset also uses a uni body shell which feels incredibly well made. This shell offers a textured finish which helps to make the phone feel very comfortable in the palm of your hand. The overall dimensions of the phone are 134.4 x 69.9 x 8.9mm and the model weighs even less than the Lumia at just 130 grammes. Despite their different designs both models offer very modern looks that are sure to appeal to consumers everywhere.

Being the two flagship devices in their respective ranges both models feature the very latest in screen technology although the HTC One X impresses us slightly more in this department. The models uses a very large 4.7 inch display which runs on the very latest Super IPS LCD2 technology which produces vivid colours and excellent viewing angles. In terms of resolution the One X can display 1280 x 720 pixels which results in a fantastic pixel density of 312PPI. The multi touch screen is constructed from Gorilla Glass which is much stronger than traditional glass panels which helps it to keep in better condition for longer. The Nokia Lumia 900 uses a smaller screen which utilises Super AMOLED technology. This type of display is regarded by many people as being the best type of screen on the market but the Nokia loses ground on the HTC by offering a lower resolution. The handset can display 800 x 480 which results in a much lower pixel density of 217 pixels per inch. There is no doubt that this display works well but when compared to the One X the HTC device definitely holds the upper hand for screen performance.

The HTC One X and the Nokia Lumia 900 are both super handsets that run on impressive operating systems. Both models are very pleasing on the eye and boast great screen technology but the HTC model eclipses its rival when it comes to display quality.

The Super HTC One X To benefit From New Google Drive Service

Just two years ago one of the most important elements of mobile smartphones was the storage capacity that they offered. As screen size and processing power continued to grow the handsets became ideal for playing back a wealth of multi media content including audio and video files. The down side to these file is that they occupied a large amount of the phones storage capacity and as a result phones were introduced offering massive amounts of capacity. Recently new cloud storage services have become popular which have reduced the need for large internal capacity on many models. Internet giants Google are now set to launch their own service for devices like the HTC One X.

Cloud storage services basically involve the users data being stored at a remote location known as the cloud. Services such as this offer numerous advantages over internal storage. The fact that the files are located centrally means that they can be accessed from other devices. This means that users can view their photographs and other data from their laptop computer or home PC. The other main advantage of this type of system is that if the mobile phone is lost or stolen important data remains safe. This data can then be easily transferred to a new device. Cloud storage has increased in popularity over the last few months with several companies offering consumers varying amounts of storage. Users of the HTC One X can already use the Dropbox service thanks to a deal between the company and HTC. Users are given 25GB of free storage for two years. Apple have also recently launched their popular iCloud service for users running an iOS device. The new Google Drive facility may prove to be the most popular of all. Google design the Android operating system which is the OS that is used by most smartphones and therefore integration of this new service is likely to be superb on these phones.

The HTC One X does offer users 16GB of internal storage but user can extend on this with the help of Google Drive. Although there has been no official confirmation about exactly what the new system will offer it is expected that users will be allocated a designated amount of free storage capacity. This is likely to be somewhere around the 5GB level but user can opt to increase their capacity by paying an annual subscription. It is expected that Google will allocate additional storage in steps of 100GB. No prices have been announced but Google will be keen to compete with other similar platforms so expect them to be very attractive. Another advantage of Google Drive over other services is that it will easily intergrate with a number of other Google services. Data from Google Docs will be able to be remotely stored and PDF files will also be accommodated.

Users of the HTC One X have the choice of numerous cloud storage service but the introduction of Google Drive may ultimately prove to be the best available thanks to Google’s years of experience in providing consumers with excellent software for both smartphones and computers.

Great New Browsers Are Great Alternatives For The HTC One X

A number of mobile handsets running on the Android 4.0 operating system are now becoming available. One of the most impressive devices we have encountered is the HTC One X, a premium model that combines a very high quality screen with some truly awesome processing power. The Android web browser that comes installed on the phone is very good but we want to take a look at some alternative new browsers that are available for this model and other Android 4.0 phones.

One of the very best browsers available for the HTC One X is Dolphin HD 8.0. This new version of the popular service offers an improved interface and also includes some excellent new features such as Sonar voice recognition. There are two main ways you can input data into this enhanced interface. The Sonar voice recognition enables user to perform a number of key functions with their voice. Unlike other models where voice commands are limited to searching for material Sonar allows users to bookmark favourite sites, navigate the browser and share material on social networking services. Obviously voice control is not for everyone and the browser does also include improved gesture controls if you prefer to use you phone in a more traditional manner. These improved controls allow consumers to set up specific actions for their favourite sites which can then be accessed with the simple flick of a finger. Tabbed browsing is fully supported and a number of additional pieces of software can be added to the browser to help user perform certain tasks. These additional items include RSS readers, Twitter and a PDF reader. The Dolphin HD 8.0 browser is available for free from Google Play.

Another excellent alternative browser for the HTC One X is Google Chrome. This platform has proved a major success for home computers and laptops and now the software makes its way to Android devices that run on version 4.0 of the operating system. Google Chrome does lack some of the features that are offered on Dolphin HD such as voice control but for user looking for a more traditional service this may be their best option. Multiple tabs can be opened at the same time and Chrome also offers excellent page compression which enhances the browsing speeds that users experience. Any web page that takes your fancy can be stored and viewed at a later time, even if you do not have an internet connection available. Google Chrome also features some more complex but very useful features such as allowing web pages to be shared between your mobile device and your desktop PC. Like Dolphin this software is also available for free from Google Play.

Google Chrome and Dolphin HD 8.0 are both excellent browsers for the HTC One X. Dolphin certainly offers more in the way of innovative features but Chrome looks and performs superbly which is thanks to Google enjoying so many years as a leading internet search provider.

The Excellent HTC One S And The Xperia P-Two new Models With Impressive Chipsets

Some of the biggest smartphone manufacturers on the planet have recently unveiled brand new ranges and two of the most impressive that we have seen come from HTC and Sony. These line ups both feature flagship models and also more budget devices aimed at first time smartphone users. We take a look at the two mid range devices in each range, the HTC One S and the Sony Xperia P, and see what the handsets offer in terms of processing power and storage capacity.

Both of these two models incorporate chipsets that could have graced many flagship models 12 months ago. The HTC One S features a dual core processor that forms part of the new Snapdragon S4 Krait chipset. The processor itself is clocked at a very powerful 1.5Ghz and delivers excellent operation speeds to the user while the dual cores mean that the device handles multi tasking features with ease. Accompanying this processor is an Adreno 225 graphics processing unit which boast enough power to handle the most demanding games titles currently available. Considering that this is a mid range device we were very impressed with what the model offers in this area. We experienced no problems when testing the phone and we really did find it hard to differentiate between this model and the premium HTC One X in this department. The Sony Xperia P also boasts a dual core processor but one that is clocked at just 1Ghz. Despite the chip being considerably less powerful we found that its performance was still impressive. Sony have always included high quality single core chips on their older devices and it is evident that this quality extends to the new dual core processors that the company are using. A DB8500 graphics processing unit is also used on the phone which should prove more than adequate for any games that are downloaded although it does lack the performance that the Adreno chip used on the HTC device can deliver.

The HTC One S comes with 16GB of internal storage capacity. This should prove more than ample for the majority of phones users and should provide enough capacity for over 4000 audio tracks or up to 16 hours of video footage. Unfortunately the handset does not feature a micro SD card slot so there is now way of expanding this capacity but users can opt for one of the various cloud storage services available which provide additional storage. HTC have arranged a deal with cloud storage provider Dropbox and all users of this phone have access to 25GB of free storage. The Sony Xperia P offers exactly the same internal storage as the One S and also does not feature a micro SD card. Users of this phone can opt for an additional cloud storage service although Sony have yet to arrange a deal that allocates users of their devices free storage. Both models are almost identical in this department but the free Dropbox option gives the HTC model the edge.

The HTC One S and the Sony Xperia P are both exceptional mid range devices that actually compare very well with many premium handsets. Both phones include excellent dual core chipsets but the HTC offers a little more in terms of processing power. In terms of storage both units are evenly matched but users of the One S are provided with free cloud storage which is very appealing.

The HTC One S And The Xperia P-Our Thoughts On Screen Performance

Both HTC and Sony have impressed us in the early part of 2012 with the excellent new smartphones that they have both released. The HTC One X and the Sony Xperia S are the two flagship models that undoubtedly boast the highest specification in the respective ranges but there are also some excellent devices available that sit below these models in the range. We take a look at two such models, the HTC One S and the Sony Xperia P, and see how the handsets compare for design and screen technology.

In terms of design the Sony Xperia P faces some stiff competition form the HTC One S as the HTC phone is without question the most attractive handset that the company have ever released. The most appealing aspect of this device is the incredibly slim profile that the phone offers. The One S is the slimmest phone that HTC have ever produced and measures just 7.8mm in depth. As you would expect the model is also very lightweight and it tips the scales at just 119.5 grammes. The model offers a uni body design which takes on a pebble like appearance which is a big step away from the more rectangular form that is offered by many previous models released by the manufacturer. Despite the light weight of the model when in use it does feel very well constructed and the handset sits very comfortably in the palm of your hand. The Sony Xperia P is another great looking phone although this model sports a more angular design than the pebble like One S. Xperia handsets always boast some excellent design and the same can be said of this new model. A distinctive transparent strip which has LED lights incorporated is located beneath the screen which helps the phone stand out from its rivals. The model measures 122 x 59.5x 10.5mm and weighs a fraction more than the HTC at 120 grammes. Both of these models are very well designed although we feel the HTC offers a little more in terms of build quality while its slim profile also catches the eye.

Things are much more evenly matched when we take a look at the screen technology incorporated on both of these models. The HTC One S features a Super AMOLED display which measures 4.3 inches. In terms of resolution the model can display 960 x 540 which results in a pixel density of 256PPI which is impressive for what is a mid range device. Gorilla Glass is used on the screen which will help to ensure that it stays in great condition as this material is much tougher than many traditional panels. The Sony Xperia P uses a slightly smaller 4 inch LED backlit display which shows the same resolution as the HTC phone. This has a positive effect on the pixel density of the model which is 275PPI. Sony have included the Bravia Mobile picture engine on the handset and have also fitted the phone with White Magic display technology to ensure that it delivers the highest possible image quality. Although the Sony offers a superior pixel density the HTC utilises the latest Super AMOLED technology and the result is two very high quality displays with very little to choose between the two.

The HTC One S and the Sony Xperia P are both very impressive mid range phones that will appeal to consumers who are looking for great features at a wallet friendly price. In terms of design the HTC phone holds the upper hand but in terms of screen technology both models are very evenly matched.

The HTC One S-A Leading Device For Design

HTC have recently launched their new range of smartphones and much of the public and media attention has been focused on the premium One X model thanks to its quad core processor and large display. Sitting beneath this model in the range is the impressive HTC One S, which despite not being the flagship handset still offers some great features that help the model to compete with some of the best phones available. We take a look at the design of this excellent new device.

The HTC One S immediately grabs your attention thanks to its superb design and incredibly slim profile. After years of producing pleasant but unspectacular looking phones this could be the device which helps HTC compete with the likes of Apple and Samsung in the style stakes. The One S is the slimmest phone that HTC have ever produced and the company highlight this fact in their new advertising campaign for the model. The phone measures just 7.8mm which makes the model one of the slimmest on the market. In terms of height and width the model measures a fairly average 130.9 x 65mm. The device is also very light at just 119 grammes which helps to make the phone feel very comfortable when in use. Looking at the front of the device the glossy black display dominates proceedings with a very thin grey bezel surrounding it. Beneath this screen there are three capacitive buttons which we prefer to having physical buttons on the device as it enhances the aesthetic appeal of the phone. Positioned at the top of the fascia is the front facing camera lens which is perfect for video calls or capturing a sneaky self portrait.

The back panel of the HTC One S is constructed from Aluminium that has undergone a micro arc oxidisation treatment. This is the same process that is used on satellites and it helps to make the model more resistant to scratches and damage. Only a very small section towards the top of the back panel can be removed which is where you can access the micro SIM. The battery is sealed within the phone and there is no micro SD card slot as the storage capacity of the device is non expandable. The metal chassis of this model helps it to offer a very premium look and one could argue that the model looks more expensive than its big brother the One X. The grey colouring of the phone also makes a pleasant change from the glossy black finish that we see sported by so many modern handsets.

The HTC One S is one of the most visually appealing phones that we have encountered in a long time. The model is not only one of the slimmest phones available it is also one of the most stylish thanks to the use of Aluminium in the phones construction and also some very nice design.

A Look Around The Superb Pulse HTC One X

RSS feeds are a popular way for smartphone users to keep up to date with information that is relevant to them. The internet is full of news stories about a variety of subjects from technology news to information on your favourite football teams. The new Google Reader application is a simple way of keeping up to date on devices like the HTC One X but the format of the software is not the most visually appealing. The new Pulse application offers a brand new way of reading your RSS feeds and boasts an eye catching user interface.

In terms of functionality the Pulse application for the HTC One X does not offer much more than a number of similar applications that are available. What Pulse does do however is deliver your favourite websites and news stories in a visually stunning format which is what gives it the edge over rival software. Pulse aims to deliver a unique experience by presenting your stories on a mosaic style screen. This comprises of a number of thumbnail images with a small title highlighting what the story is about. When you spot a story that you would like to read simply tap on the image and you can read the story in a simple format that looks as though it has been lifted straight from a printed page. If you find that you are running short of time and cannot read the story in full you have the option to save it and revisit the page at a time that is convenient to you.

Another really appealing aspect of this new HTC One X application is how it links with a number of other leading applications and software programs. A great example of this is the way the application interacts with Evernote. Pulse can synchronise with this software which means that users can then view the article on their mobile device or home computer by accessing their Evernote account. Social networking also plays a big part in the appeal of this exciting new software. If the user reads a story that they feel may be of interest to their friends and colleagues it can easily be shared on sites such as Facebook and Twitter. The one negative aspect of Pulse is that much of the news content is US based and UK stories are a little limited. As the popularity of the service grows however we can expect a much wider range of news that caters for users from across the globe.

Pulse is definitely the most impressive application for news coverage that we have encountered on the HTC One X. The beautiful interfaces gives the software an instant advantage over its rivals and all stories are presented in a simple manner that makes them easy to read and digest.

The HTC One X And The Galaxy Note Boast Eye Catching Looks

When the HTC One X smartphone was released last month one of the features that grabbed the attention of many consumers was the superb 4.7 inch screen offered by the device. This made the handset an instant hit with users looking for a phone to use for video playback and mobile gaming. There is however another device on the market that boasts a screen even larger than the HTC. The Samsung Galaxy Note was launched towards the end of 2011 and incorporates a massive 5.3 inch screen. We see how these two superb devices compare in terms of design and screen technology.

Although the new HTC One X is the smaller of these two phones it is still relatively large when compared to the majority of handsets currently available. The model measures 134.4 x 69.9 x 8.9mm and weighs 130 grammes. The One X is a very visually appealing device that compares favourably with some of the nicest designs available such as the Sony Xperia S and the iPhone 4S. The large screen dominates almost the entire fascia of the model with just a very thin bezel that surrounds the display visible from the front. When you turn the phone over and take a look at the rear of the device you are greeted by a striking uni body chassis that boasts a slightly textured finish and an attractive curved design. The Samsung Galaxy Note is a very large phone which could easily be described as a miniature tablet rather than a mobile smartphone. The phone looks like a larger version of the popular S2 handset. The slightly curved back panel offers a textured finish but the plastic that is used on the phone does feel less premium than the material that is used on the One X. The use of plastic does help to keep the weight of the handset down to a minimum however and this phone weighs just 178 grammes which is impressive for such a large device.

There is no doubt that the key feature on both of these models is the excellent screen quality that both products offer. The HTC One X uses the latest Super IPS LCD2 panel which delivers incredibly bright pictures and superb viewing angles. The screen measures 4.7 inches which makes it the largest display in the current HTC range. This screen can deliver an excellent resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a very high pixel density of 312PPI. This multi touch capacitive screen is made from toughened Gorilla Glass which is more resistant to scratches and damage than many more traditional materials. The Samsung Galaxy Note uses a much larger 5.3 inch display that makes use of Samsung’s own Super AMOLED technology. This type of screen is regarded as being the best currently available and it does produce wonderfully bright images. In terms of resolution the model can display 1280 x 800 which is slightly higher than the One X but the larger screen size means that pixel density does drop to 285 pixels per inch. Despite this lower density the Galaxy Note still produces great visuals that will delight many consumers but we feel that the HTC handset does hold the upper hand in this area.

If you are looking for a mobile handset with a large display then these two models should be at the top of your list. Both handsets offer an eye catching design and excellent screen quality but the HTC One X does eclipse its rival in this area thanks to the superior pixel density that it can produce.

The HTC One X And The ZTE Era-Screens And Design

If you ask anybody to name a mobile smartphone manufacturer the usual names will normally be mentioned including Apple, Nokia and HTC. A name that might not pop up quite as regularly is ZTE. ZTE are a Chinese telecommunications manufacturer who are actually the fourth largest mobile phone producer in the world. Over the next two years we are going to be seeing devices made by this company become more popular across Europe and the United States. ZTE’s newest smartphone is the Era, a powerful new quad core device that boasts some great features. We see how it shapes up against one of the more popular models currently available, the excellent HTC One X.

Although HTC are not renowned for producing the most stylish mobile devices it is fair to say that the new HTC One X is the best looking handset that they have ever produced. The HTC One X measures 134.4 x 69.9 x 8.9mm and weighs just 130 grammes which is very impressive for a model sporting a large 4.7 inch screen. The handset is actually quite large but it does feel very light when you use it and the slim depth also helps the model feel smaller than it actually is. The model uses a unibody chassis which is constructed from high quality plastics that feel more premium than many of the other models that this company have produced. The phone offers some nicely chiseled edges and gently curved corners which work extremely well with the large display and slim depth. The ZTE Era is also a very nice looking phone. Although we do not have the exact width and height dimensions we can tell you that the model measures just 7.8mm in depth which makes it one of the market leaders in this area. The Era is very similar to the One X in many ways. Neatly curved corners give the phone a pebble like appearance and high quality plastics are used so the device feels great when in use. A particularly striking element of this phones design is the eye catching back panel which is a combination of a stylish silver colour and a very attractive blue. Both of these models impress with their design but we feel that the HTC handset offers a little more in the way of of build quality.

With both of these models being flagship devices in their respective ranges you expect high quality screens to be incorporated and neither model disappoints. A huge 4.7 inch screen makes the HTC One X perfect for multi media fans and it is pleasing to see that quality has not been sacrificed as it often is on many larger displays. This new Super IPS LCD2 panel is capable of producing a very high resolution of 1280 x 720 and a pixel density of 312PPI. The screen is constructed from Gorilla Glass which is a toughened material that is much stronger than the traditional glass that is used on many mobile displays. The ZTE Era uses a smaller 4.3 inch screen which is the same size as can be found on the best selling Samsung Galaxy S2. The ZTE does use a standard TFT LCD panel which does not boast the great viewing angles that can be found on the One X. Resolution wise the model can display 960 x 540 pixels which is very impressive but somewhat lower than the extremely high quality that the HTC phone can produce. In terms of pixel density the Era offers a respectable 256 pixels per inch.

The HTC One X and the ZTE Era are both great smartphones which offer very stylish design. In terms of screen quality the HTC does offer the higher quality of the two models thanks to the newer display technology that is used and the excellent resolution.

The HTC One X and the Samsung Galaxy S2 are available now.

The HTC One X Proves A Top New Model

In 2011 we saw a number of mobile handsets released that sported dual core processors. These models offered users improved multi tasking facilities and pretty much every premium device featured a chip with dual cores. Technology moves very quickly however and we are now seeing the first models introduced that incorporate quad core processors. Some may argue that this type of power is not necessary on a mobile device but we feel that if the technology is available then it would be a shame not to use it. We take a quick look at the first quad core phones to hit the market including the HTC One X.

The HTC One X is a superb new device that sits proudly at the top of the manufacturers new range. The powerful 1.5Ghz quad core processor ensures that the model can easily handle a variety of different tasks and this processor is accompanied by a high quality graphics processing unit that enables the model accomodate HD movies and the latest mobile games. For this reason HTC have opted to use a massive 4.7 inch screen on this model so that users can take full advantage of a range of multi media content. The screen uses the latest Super IPS LCD2 technology which produces vivid colours and excellent viewing angles. If you would rather capture your own material with the handset then you will not be disappointed with the excellent 8 mega pixel camera and 1080P video recording facility. The phone even sports a dedicated camera chip that enables users to take photographs while filming video footage. At this moment in time the HTC One X is our pick of the quad core devices that we have seen but there are likely to be many more models released this year that will challenge this device including the eagerly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S3.

One of the handsets that surprised has surprised us the most this year is the Huawei Ascend D Quad. The model is produced by the relatively unknown Chinese manufacturer but it boasts specification and looks that rival devices like the HTC One X. The model is similar in looks to the stylish Samsung Galaxy S2 with a very slim profile that measures just 8.9mm. A 1.5Ghz quad core processor ensures that operation is very fast and camera features also impress with the model offering 8 mega pixel still photos and 1080P video capture. If you would rather stick with a more well known manufacturer then you cannot go wrong with the impressive new LG Optimus 4X HD. This is LG’s first quad core offering and it boasts every feature that you could ask from a modern smartphone. A large 4.7 inch screen is perfect for multi media use and the resolution is superb with the device capable of displaying a massive 312 pixels per inch. The LG model also offers some nice touches that are not found on many other devices such as an HDMI socket for easy connection to a television and 4G data support.

Although the HTC One X is our pick of the current batch of quad core smartphones the Huawei Ascend D Quad and the LG Optimus 4X HD are both great alternatives. Expect to see a number of new devices released soon that will offer similar specification including new handsets from Apple and Samsung.

The HTC One X is available now and the Huawei Ascend D Quad is coming soon.

Powerful Still Cameras On The HTC One X And The Xperia S

From the dozens of new mobile handsets that we have seen launched over the past three months there are two models that have really caught our eye thanks to excellent design and some great specification. The HTC One X and the Sony Xperia S are the flagship models in their respective ranges and our shaping up to prove two of the most popular models launched this year. We see how the processing power of both of these models compares and also take a look at what camera features each handset offers.

The HTC One X offers excellent processing power from the quad core chip that it uses. The device runs on an Nvidia Tegra 3 processor chip that is clocked at 1.5Ghz. This chip incorporates four ARM Cortex A9 cores to help deliver a near perfect multi tasking experience on the device. When we tested this handset we found it incredibly quick and it is fair to say that the One X will take some beating in this department. Accompanying the processor chip is an Nvidia Geforce ULP graphics processing unit. This GPU is one of the best currently available and it helps to ensure that the device handles the most demanding games and HD video footage with ease. The Sony Xperia S uses a processor which is clocked at the same speed as the One X but only incorporates dual cores. This should however prove ample for the average phone user and when we tested both phones it was very difficult to find much difference in terms of performance speeds. The Sony features a Qualcomm MSM8260 S3 chipset with an ARM Cortex A9 processor. This is coupled with a powerful GPU in the shape of an Adreno 220 chip. On paper the HTC One X is the superior handset in this area but in reality both models deliver excellent performance that is hard to fault.

If you are looking for a premium smartphone with great camera features then both of these models are excellent. The HTC One X incorporates an 8 mega pixel still camera which is accompanied by a high quality BSI sensor that helps the phone produce outstanding quality. The new Sense 4.0 user interface enables the handset to capture still images while recording uninterrupted video footage which is a nice idea not found on any other models at present. Holding down the shutter key on this phone will also capture a series of 20 photographs and the user can simply select their favourite shots from this set and delete the rest. In terms of video capture the model offer 1080P capture at a frame rate of 30 per second. The One X offers a superb camera feature but the Sony Xperia S outshines its rival in this area thanks to a superb 12 mega pixel photography facility. The phone also uses a BSI sensor like the HTC device and the results are fantastic. A range of additional features are on hand to help users capture the very best photographs possible. An LED flash is perfect for photography in dark conditions and image stabilisation compensates for any natural shake that can have a negative effect on the final image. Video capture is the same as the HTC handset with the phone capable of recording HD 1080P footage.

There is no doubt that these are two of the very best phones currently available. The HTC One X has the edge over the Sony for processing power but the Xperia S offers higher quality still photography.
