What Type Of Fairing Does Your Motor Demand?

When it comes to choosing quality fairings for your bike, riders are prone to choosing the wrong option which often results in various disadvantages for them in the future. To avoid committing errors while choosing appropriate fairings for your bike, you are required to acknowledge a couple important things. The first thing will be to determine the type of motorcycle you require fairings for. For some odd reason, there are riders who disregard the actual reason for needing to put fairings on their bikes and instead just proceed to add on pointless modifications. The kind of bike you own matters a lot if you are looking to give it an entirely different look. So what kind of bike do you own, is it Kawasaki, Yamaha, or perhaps Suzuki? The important thing is that all these different bikes have their own shapes and structure which actually determine the kind of fairings you require. Fairings such as those for cbr, gsxr, and ninja all have unique features which fit accordingly on different types of bikes. Hence, if you first determine the kind of bike you need fairings for, you will be able to make a wise decision.

Once you have determined this, you should then figure out the kind of function you require fairings for. Do you need them to shield winds, dust, dirt, or debris while riding on the roads? These are a few important things that should be taken into consideration. Once you have decided exactly what you want the fairings for and then it will be easier for you to choose the right fairings for your bike that will match up to your requirement for a longer period of time. There are various types of fairings available on the market today. It is important for you to understand the kind of fairings you require. If you know that you require full, half, or quarter fairings then you will be able to get the benefits out of fairings effectively. While choosing the fairings, you should be assured that they are going to offer you the maximum protection and safety. More importantly, they will decrease the air drag and protect your engine. They support the upper and lower portions of the body of the motorcycle. And let us not deny the fact that they are a beautiful edition to your bike’s looks.

If you have chosen to get half fairings for your bikes then you should properly understand that they include the windscreen and they extend only to the handlebars. Quarter fairings include windscreens and fairings that only cover the headlight. Quarter fairings are considered to be effective when it comes to protection from rain and winds as they are resistant to light and scratches. Bally pan fairings are popular among a lot of people and are great for minimizing aerodynamic lift. They are just above the engine. Lastly, one thing that you should never forget to take into consideration is the weight of the fairings. The weight of the fairings should be light because of the fact that light motorcycles travel faster than the bikes that are heavy.

Breaking Down Motorcycle Fairings

In the early days, fairings were essentially a type of cowling that was placed in the front of the motorcycle’s body to increase the surface area. The BMW R100RS started the world off on a trend towards full fairings. Naturally, the entire concept was essentially copied from the aircraft industry and simply later applied towards motorcycles.Though the R100RS was leading the way in 1976, in the modern era, it seems that motorcycle fairings have become an integral part of many motorcycle designs. In fact, the way that motorcycle fairings are mounted changes up the speed, steering and handling in profound ways. This is why the bikes built by companies like Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Honda can mount so many different styles of fairings. In fact, there is probably a full catalog for each make and model. The OEM firms build some of these designs, and others are great examples of the aftermarket trade.

They’re also used to increase fuel mileage. The streamliner class of fairings covers the entire body of the motorcycle and provides the minimal drag coefficient ratio that’s possible with this engineering platform. The dustbin fairing looks something like an aircraft front and reduces the frontal drag. Nevertheless, the International Federation of Motorcycles ended up banning this design because it tends to be unstable. The half fairing runs beyond the lower part of the handlebars to around the cylinder block. Those that really like everything to be custom can usually extend these out to be full fairings if they want, though. The dolphin fairing fans out around the streamlined front wheel and windshield midguard. This makes it look like the beak of a dolphin, which is where the name originally came from. This sort of fairing became popular in the wake of the IFM’s ban on dustbin style fairings.

Why Choose A Custom Motorcycle Parts?

There are lots of reasons why people are building and buying custom motorcycles today and I thought I might write about why this trend is such a force in the motorcycle industry. The opinions are my own; so I am sure others have their own ideas. Well, this is America and we all are entitled to our own ideas. I just thought I would share mine with you.The custom motorcycle craze is a relatively new phenomenon. People over the years have always customized their ride but usually they were skilled fabricators, painters, or they knew people who were. When the chopper craze began many years ago the idea was to take the weight off and rake your machine out. The people who possessed the necessary skills were few and far between.

If you couldnt do it yourself (most couldnt) you had to have a friend or someone you could pay to do it for you. Its very different today. When I was first bit by the motorcycle bug there were choices but no customs to choose from. There was Harley Davidson of course, Triumph, Norton, some metrics and that was about it. Yeah, there were others like BMW and more but the point is there wasnt anyone building custom motorcycles. People would buy a stock bike and if they wanted to customize it they had to find another way. It remained that way for a long time and most were reasonably satisfied with what was out there. The motorcycle world was a lot smaller then and most people who owned one were hard core or “hippies” who were into an alternative lifestyle so a motorcycle suited them just fine. That was then, this is now.Today there are many more choices and many more people who ride. In years past you would never see a businessman, a teacher, a professional athlete, a builder, a stock broker, or a politician riding a motorcycle.

Today they all do. The thrill, the look, the sense of adventure, the “uniform”, the chicks, the rallies… These are just some of the things that entice people to buy a motorcycle today. The fact that it is now acceptable for almost anyone to ride also plays a big role. Harley still has its mystique and many affluent, middle class and ordinary people own a Harley. When I was growing up a Harley was the dream of anyone who wanted a motorcycle. The Harley sound and the Harley look were unique and anyone who really was a “biker” had to own a Harley or dream about owning one. I remember when Harley came out with a 1000cc motorcycle. Well, that was the biggest, baddest, most beautiful machine ever. There was a 750 Norton, a 650 Triumph, but only one Harley. There were Japanese motorcycles but although they were mechanically sound and fuel efficient, a real biker scoffed at them, the sound they made and the way they looked. They were sissy bikes.

The custom motorcycle came much later. I am not sure exactly when it began. I want to say the late eighties, early nineties, but as I said others may say sooner. I am just thinking about people like Arlen Ness (earlier) and people like Roger Bourget, Indian Larry, Dave Perewitz, Ron Finch, Von Dutch, people like that. Ness is the godfather and probably the most senior. He was doing things early on but mostly for himself. There wasnt a big market then. The others came later and the industry didnt really pick up until the last decade or so. People were fabricating, designing, painting, and engineering but there was not a mass market as there is today. I must not leave out Jesse James who was also into it early and became rich and famous building custom motorcycles and fabricating parts.

Honda Motorcycle Parts:Passion and Excellence

It has to do with excellence. It has to do with passion. That’s how Honda parts work. This is what sets Honda Motor Limited Company, and thus, Honda parts, from the rest of its competitors and competitor products vying to capture its much coveted place in the automotive world market today. Tough it has lesser numbers of assembly plants compared to another Japanese automaker, Toyota, Honda is the largest engine manufacturer that operates on an international scale. Founded in 1948, just three years after the war had ravaged the world, particularly after the nuclear bomb had surprised citizens of the world near and far, the Honda Motor Limited Company was born. Soichiro Honda was the founding genius behind the success of Honda. A brilliant mechanic, he conceived an innovative design for piston rings in 1938 that he attempted to sell to Toyota. It wasn’t until two years after that his efforts would pay off and that he would be able to build the Honda piston manufacturing company to supply Toyota with these auto arts. Then the war began and left the country in economic ruin. Most companies didn’t survive and Honda was one of them. But, though the country was in desperate straits, with people left and right, homeless as well as hungry and those who were able, paying astronomically high prices for food and fuel, Honda utilized what was left of the component facilities and rigged an engine to a bicycle. Though primitive in appearance and design, it served its purpose: it was low-cost and it was competent–exactly what the people needed.

In the years that would follow, Honda would adapt this same principle that would prove effective for its expansion programs as well as for its Honda cars and Honda parts campaigns. Because more than the market demands, what Honda answered with its production of motorcycles of a long line of products that now include trucks, scooters, along with jet engines in conjunction with its role in jet production, were specific consumer needs. After the first few post-war years, when everyone feared that the best minds and the best people in the world were dead, companies like Honda, among some others, strove to prove the world wrong. When the 50′s ushered in a new era, it found Japan trying to pick itself up again. Granted, it was a little wobbly on its pins but the economic scope was definitely looking up and businesses like Honda were not one to give up. In 1947, Honda A-Type was produced, and a year later, the company was officially established. Honda Motor Limited Company was back on its feet. In 1958, the American Honda Company made its presence known in the market, launching its first model in US soil a year after with the 59 Honda Super Cub. With the approach of the late 1960s, Honda was already a name in itself in world markets, having finally broken into the conservative British markets with a measure of success at this time. In the 1970s, Honda was already the largest motorcycle maker in the world. Up to this day, Honda’s trademark excellence, passion and dedication to the work still continues to be incorporated in its products, namely in its engines, in its usual line of auto components and other auto replacements parts.

Motorcycle Eye Safety: Protecting Your Eyes While on the Motorcycle

When you are out on the motorcycle, there are certain things that you have to keep in mind. You are part of nature on a bike, surrounded by the whipping wind and whatever might be swept up and rushing past with it. In a car, you are protected from debris by the doors and the windshield. On a bike, you do not have such protection, so you have to take other precautions.

Motorcycle Eye Safety You protect your arms and legs by wearing the right clothes and shoes. You know that rocks can fly up and nail you at any time, so hopefully you are wearing proper riding boots to minimize the risk of injury. Wearing a leather or other thick material jacket protects your arms and chest as well as keeps you warm while you are on the bike. The temperature that you feel when you are standing still will not be the temperature that you feel when you get out on the open road, especially if it is windy or in the early fall.

But, one of the most important things you have to keep in mind when you are out on your motorcycle is the protection of your lovely face and eyes. Be careful ladies, because it is remarkably easy to scratch your cornea which can lead to dangerous eye infections and vision loss. There are many ways to keep your eyes safe while you are on the bike. Finding what works best for you is important so that you can ride safely and comfortably.

1. A Windshield
Buying a detachable windshield can minimize some of the debris and wind that comes flying past your face when you are out on the bike. Some people do not like the look of them on their bikes, however.

2. A Full-Face Shield Helmet
The choice of helmets for women is a matter of personal choice and comfort. For some, the feeling of being fully encased is comforting, but for others it feels claustrophobic. If you prefer to wear a helmet that does not cover your face, you will have to find an alternative.

3. Goggles or Riding Glasses
Okay, it is not the average person that can make the goggle look appealing, but it’s not really looks you are going for here. The point is to protect your eyes.

4. A Helmet with a Visor
If you have a helmet that has a half-face shield or a visor, you are protecting your eyes, at least a little bit.

Remember, though: If you wear contacts, you will have to do a little more to protect your eyes because not only do you face problems from the dust and debris on the road, but you have to fight dried out contacts as well. If you have ever had to drive down the road with one contact dried and stinging, you know exactly what I mean.

Some Info Of Honda VFR750F Motorcycle

The Honda VFR750F is a sport touring motorcycle produced between 1986 and 1997. The fully faired motorcycle featured a reliable 98 horsepower liquid-cooled double overhead cam V4 four-stroke engine. All generations of VFR750 since 1990 employ an ELF-designed single-sided rear swingarm. Also characteristic of the VFR750 was durable gear-driven cams. The original VFR750F was first introduced to journalists after the 1985 Bol d’Or, and launched at Jerez. Introduced for 1986 as a complete redesign of the VF700/750F models in order to address some of the camshaft and bearing problems that had become associated with the first-generation Honda V4 engines, and to improve Honda’s negative image concerning this engine. Compared to the VF750F, the new VFR750F featured greatly improved power output, lighter weight, a lower center of gravity, a wider front tire, a slightly shorter wheelbase (15mm) gear driven cams and 6 rather than 5 gears.

The VFR750F received many positive reviews and awards while in production, including winning the Best 750 cc sport bike award from Cycle World six years in a row. “Tariff beater” 700 cc versions of the first-generation bike were available alongside 750 cc versions in the US market, due to the tax laws in place at the time that penalized large-displacement imported motorcycles. In the Japanese domestic market there were other VFR750F variants. Although not designed as a race bike, in 1986 British racer Ron Haslam took a standard VFR750F to third place in a soaked Transatlantic Challenge race at Donington Park, UK. In the United States Fred Merkel and Wayne Rainey disputed the 1986 AMA Camel Pro Championship, which at the time had both Superbike and F1 races but only one championship, with the best finish of the day counting. Merkel just rode in the Superbike while Rainey did the F1 as well. Merkel won two races and Rainey seven but the championship was won by Flyin’ Fred Merkel by only two points.

For 1987 Freds bike was passed to Bubba Shobert who took 3rd place in 1987, being beaten by Wayne Rainey and Kevin Schwantz. The points he earned during the 1987 season gaining him victory in the AMA Grand National. In 1988 Shobert won 3 of the 7 races to win the AMA superbike championship. A very special VFR750F called the ’6X’, a full HRC prototype containing titanium valves and magnesium flat-slide carburetors and weighing even less than the factory RVF was first seen raced by Wayne Gardner at Suzuka against TT F1 machinery. Wayne trounced the opposition, smashing his 4 stroke lap record by 1.5s. This 135 hp / 188 mph VFR ’6X’ was raced at the Isle of Man TT by Geoff Johnson, coming in 2nd to Joey Dunlop in both the F1 and Senior TT. The engine developed in the 6X became the basis for the factory racer, the VFR750R. An engine race kit was available for the 1986 VFR from HRC for $4,000 (USD), including a titanium exhaust. Some About Of The Suzuki GSX Series Motorcycle

The GSX Series is Suzuki’s range of sport touring motorcycles with four-valved engines. The earliest GSX models were introduced in the early 1980s to complement and later replace the two-valve Suzuki GS series. The current range of bikes by that name are completely different designs that use derivatives of former super sports engines from the early-to-middle GSX-R series. Among the earliest GSX models were the two-cylinder GSX 250 and the GSX 400. These Suzuki GSX models were the evolution of the GS series of two-valve-per-cylinder air and oil-cooled four-stroke motorcycles. The first four-valve engines were produced for the 1980 model year, but retained the “GS” designation for the US and Canadian markets until the release of the GSX-R models in 1986. These GSX engines were based on Suzuki’s “TSCC” engine design, and shared little with previous two-valve models. The bike called Suzuki Katana in the US had this engine design, with designations of GSX-S, but has little in common with the more modern GSX-F Katanas, which are sport-touring bikes.

The TSCC engine was once again redesigned in 1983 with the introduction of a completely new GSX 750, Suzuki’s first modern mono-shocked sportbike in both a naked and half-faired version. Although this bike received solid reviews from testing magazines (and came to be the testers’ preferred 750 sport machine for the year), its release was an ill-timed duel against Honda’s all-new V4 engine in the form of the VF750 Interceptor. The 1983 GSX 750ES had air-adjustable anti-dive forks, preload and compression-adjustable rear mono-shock , disc brakes at both ends, a fuel gauge and digital gear indicator. The bike disappeared from dealers in 1984, to be replaced with the GSX 700 – a bike with a de-stroked engine and minor cosmetic differences. Minor tweaks included taller pistons and slightly differing cam lift and timing. This plus a change in factory gear ratios enabled Suzuki to produce a motorcycle with near-identical performance specifications to the GSX 750ES, even though engine displacement was 15 per cent smaller to satisfy the revised US import guidelines. These included increased tariffs imposed by the US government on all imported motorcycles displacing more than 700cc. This 50 per cent tariff was the reason behind the glut of de-stroked 650 cc and 700 cc Japanese motorcycles sold in the US in the mid-1980s – unique to the rest of the world – and is also the reason the GSX-R debuted in the US a full year later than the rest of the world.

The GSX 750S received an updated engine for 1984, along with Suzuki’s other big-bore four-valver models. This is the engine that the first Suzuki GSX-R Series bikes were based on. Current GSX models are powered by derivatives of this in-line, four-cylinder engine with four valves per cylinder, which is also used in the Suzuki Bandit Series up to the end of the 2006 model year. They feature a combined air/oil cooling system called SACS. The current GSX series is produced as the GSX600F and GSX750F faired sport touring models, now in their second generations, and the unfaired, twin-shock GSX 750 and GSX 1400 models. The GSX650F, produced from 2008, is essentially a variation on the Bandit 650, with much the same specification and components. The additional lower fairing, however, gives it a sportier look similar to that of the Suzuki GSX-R Series, the engine has had a small amount of remapping to encourage revs, and the suspension is tweaked. It also has a one-piece seat, unlike the Bandit. The earlier GSX 1200 Inazuma was offered in Japan and Europe for a short time besides the GSF 1200 Bandit to cater for a clientele that went for a more traditional styling and a somewhat higher build quality. When it proved sufficiently popular for overseas export, it was quickly developed into the current GSX 1400. Some Info About Honda CBR1000RR 2004-2005

The CBR1000RR, also known as the Fireblade, is a 999 cc liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder sport bike that was introduced by Honda in 2004 to replace the CBR954RR. The Honda CBR1000RR was the successor to the CBR954RR. While evolving the CBR954RR design, few parts were carried over to the CBR1000RR. The compact 998 cc (60.9 cu in) in-line four was a new design, with different bore and stroke dimensions, race-inspired cassette-type six-speed gearbox, all-new ECU-controlled ram-air system, dual-stage fuel injection, and center-up exhaust featuring a new computer-controlled butterfly valve. The chassis was likewise all new, including an organic-style aluminum frame composed of Gravity Die-Cast main sections and Fine Die-Cast steering head structure, inverted fork, Unit Pro-Link rear suspension, radial-mounted front brakes, and a centrally located fuel tank hidden under a faux cover. Additionally, the Honda Electronic Steering Damper (HESD) debuted as an industry first system which aimed to improve stability and help eliminate head shake while automatically adjusting for high and low speed steering effort.

A longer swingarm acted as a longer lever arm in the rear suspension for superior traction under acceleration and more progressive suspension action. Longer than the corresponding unit on the CBR954RR (585 mm (23.0 in) compared to 551 mm (21.7 in)) the CBR1000RR’s 34 mm (1.3 in) longer swingarm made up 41.6 percent of its total wheelbase. The CBR1000RR’s wheelbase also increased, measuring 1,405 mm (55.3 in); a 5 mm (0.20 in) increase over the 954. Accommodating the longer swingarm was another reason the CBR1000RR power plant shared nothing with the 954. Shortening the engine compared to the 954 meant rejecting the conventional in-line layout. Instead, engineers positioned the CBR1000RR’s crankshaft, main shaft and countershaft in a triangulated configuration, with the countershaft located below the main shaft, dramatically shortening the engine front to back, and moving the swingarm pivot closer to the crankshaft. This configuration was first successfully introduced by Yamaha with the YZF-R1 model in 1998 and inspired superbike design in the following years.

Positioning this compact engine farther forward in the chassis also increased front-end weight bias, an effective method of making high-powered liter bikes less wheelie prone under hard acceleration. This approach, however, also provided very little space between the engine and front wheel for a large radiator. Engineers solved this problem by giving the RR a modest cylinder incline of 28 degrees, and moving the oil filter from its frontal placement on the 954 to the right side of the 1000RR engine. This allowed the RR’s center-up exhaust system to tuck closely to the engine. Neverland-motor Established in 2010, Guangzhou, China. The Development Of Kawasaki Ninja 250R Motorcycle

The Kawasaki Ninja 250R (previous generations had market-specific names) is a motorcycle originally introduced by Kawasaki in 1983. As the marque’s entry-level sport bike, the motorcycle has undergone few changes throughout its quarter-century lifetime, having received only two substantial redesigns. The fourth-generation model is marketed as the Ninja 250R in all markets. The motorcycle is also referred to by its platform designation, EX250, to which a generational suffix is attached. In the United States, previous generations of the bike were already being marketed as members of the Ninja family of sport bikes, while outside of the U.S. the bike was known variously as the ZZR-250, ZX-250, or as the GPX-250R. One of the earliest generations, the EX250-C, was given the name GPZ-250.

The first generation was produced between 1983 and 1984, and known by the production number EX250-C. It was sold as the GPZ-250. Sold only in its home market of Japan, this earliest, belt-driven version was first produced in 1983, and shares no commonality with later generations. The bike has 35mm fork tubes. Produced between 1986 and 1987 was the EX250-E. This model was sold as the Ninja 250R in Canada and the U.S. between 1986 and 1987. It was known as the GPZ-250R elsewhere. When originally introduced, it was more costly than the Honda Rebel, and reviewers complained that while the 14,000 rpm redline was nice, the engine was slow to rev. For the 1988 model year, there were both cosmetic changes and changes in engine tuning. While the bore and stroke, and other major engine components, were unchanged, minor tuning adjustments were made. The carburetor diameters were reduced 2 mm to 30 mm (1.2 in), the cylinder compression ratio was increased from 12.0:1 to 12.4:1, ignition timing advance was increased, and the rear sprocket was increased by three teeth to 45. Reviewers reported that this made the engine more free-revving, reaching the high 14,000 redline more quickly, and the tested top speed increased by a few miles per hour. The new, more fully enclosed bodywork was complimented for being stylish, at the time, and easily mistaken for the larger Ninja 750.

In 2008, Kawasaki gave the EX250 its most thorough modernization in many years. The EX250-J model is known as the Ninja 250R worldwide, regardless of market. Parts from the third generation are still found on the -J, but its redesigned exterior panels bring the Ninja’s appearance out of the 1990s and into line with late-2000s sportbikes. The engine and drivetrain retain 30% of the -F model’s parts, according to Kawasaki. The engine’s compression and maximum torque have been lowered to provide better midrange performance. The redesign of the engine resulted in improvements in engine response at low engine speeds, and making the bike smoother and “much easier to ride.” Though the previous generation Ninja 250 had a peak power advantage of 1 to 5 hp, the new version’s 20 or 30 percent increase in mid-range power allows the bike to pull from 3,000 rpm where previously it had to be revved to 4,000 rpm. The U.S. -J model uses dual carburetors like the -F model, but the European, Brazilian and Thai models have fuel injection. The wheels were increased in size to 17 inches, the front suspension was improved, and the brake rotors were replaced with a larger petal shape. On the carbureted version, a fuel gauge was added in place of the temperature gauge. With the additional and redesigned equipment, the EX250-J suffered a 10 kg increase in wet weight over its predecessors. With the arrival of the EX250-J, manufacturing continues to be located in Thailand. The Development Of Kawasaki Z750 Motorcycle

The Z750 motorcycle is Kawasaki’s model in the budget class of naked and half faired bikes. It is a smaller version of the Kawasaki Z1000.The Kawasaki Z750 was launched in 2004, after its bigger brother, the Z1000 in 2003. Kawasaki kept it simple, using the same engine block and sleeving it down from 1000 cc to 750 cc, cheaper front suspension and using a conventional exhaust, making it a cut-down version of Z1000. Like the Z1000, which is considered a modern version of the Kawasaki Z900/Z1, the Z750 can be considered a modern take on the Kawasaki Z750RS Z2. A remodelled version of both the Z750 and the Z1000 was released in 2007, with changes both stylistically and mechanically. In 2011, alongside the standard Z750, Kawasaki launched the Z750R, which featured upgraded suspension and brakes components and a lightly revised styling. In 2004, Kawasaki launched the first model of the Z750. This was considered Kawasaki’s new middle-weight sports-naked bike after the Kawasaki ZR-7.

In 2005, Kawasaki launched the Z750S version which is more tourer, and less streetfighter. This version has a single long seat instead of the two-part seat on the Z750 similar to the Kawasaki ZXR600R, half fairing for wind protection, and excludes the rear tire “hugger” as found on the unfaired Z750. The ‘S’ version also uses an analog speedometer and tachometer instead of the digital instrument cluster taken from Kawasaki’s supersport ZX-R models of which some riders complain that the digital LCD tachometer was harder to read while riding. Other differences include a slightly lower seat, grab rails and ZX10 style rear brake lights. In 2007, Kawasaki launched a newer version of the Z750. The styling was slightly changed and include a bikini fairing. The engine vibration was reduced and it was also revised for more torque. The front suspension was also changed to an Upside Down Fork. The front and rear disk brakes have been changed to a petal design. The exhaust design was also changed. In 2011, alongside the standard Z750, Kawasaki launched the Z750R. This model resembles the 2007 to 2012 Z750, however with upgraded front suspension for excellent steering performance and the rear suspension feature a piggyback nitrogen reservoir, radial front brake calipers with standard metal-braided front and rear brake lines, aluminium swinging-arm and black instrumentation. The headlight cluster, front mudguard and front and rear indicators were also redesigned for a more sportier look.

The Development History Of Kawasaki GPZ900R Motorcycle

The Kawasaki GPZ900R (ZX900A) was a sport bike manufactured from 1984 to 2003. The 1984 GPZ900R (or ZX900A-1) was a revolutionary design that became the immediate predecessor of the modern-day sport bike. Developed in secret over six years, it was the world’s first 16-valve liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder motorcycle engine, years ahead of rival manufacturers’ efforts. The 908 cc four-cylinder engine delivered 115 bhp (86 kW), allowing the bike to reach speeds of 151 mph (243 km/h), making it the first stock road bike to exceed 150 mph (240 km/h). Prior to its design, Kawasaki envisioned producing a sub-liter engine that would be the successor to the Z1.[3] Although its steel frame, 16-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels, air suspension, and anti-dive forks were fairly standard at that time, the narrow, compact engine was mounted lower in the frame, allowing it to take Japanese superbike performance to a new level. Only three months after being unveiled to the press in December 1983, dealers entered three works GPZ900R bikes in the Isle of Man Production TT finishing in first and second place.

Technical advances included water cooling and 16 valves, allowing additional power, and a frame that used the engine as a stressed member for improved handling and reduced weight, as a result of testing that showed that the standard downtubes carried virtually no weight and could be eliminated. Its top speed gave it the title of the fastest production bike at the time, and standing quarter mile times of 10.976 seconds, or 10.55 seconds recorded by specialist rider Jay “Pee Wee” Gleason. The 1984 GPZ900R was the first Kawasaki bike to be officially marketed (in North America) under the Ninja brand name. 2003 GPz900R Final Edition. In spite of its performance, the GPZ900R was smooth and ridable in urban traffic, owing to the new suspension and a crankshaft counter-balancer to nearly eliminated secondary vibration. The fairing’s aerodynamics combined with good overall ergonomics to make comfortable long-distance riding possible. The GPZ1000RX was to be the replacement for the GPZ900R in 1986, but the Ninja 900 continued alongside the GPZ 1000RX. In 1988 the GPZ 10000RX was replaced by the ZX-10, yet still the GPZ900R remained. With the release of the ZZ-R1100 in 1990, the GPZ900R lost its status as Kawasaki’s flagship model, but continued, with some revisions of the fork, wheels, brakes and airbox, until 1996. The GPZ900R was featured in the movie Top Gun, becoming a cultural icon.

The Development History Of Yamaha XS750 Motorcycle

The Yamaha XS 750 and Yamaha XS 850 was a line of motorcycles produced by the Yamaha Motor Corporation from 1976 to 1981 for the worldwide motorcycle market. The last model year of manufacturing was 1981. Released in Japan in 1976 as the GX750 sporting wire wheels (as opposed to cast alloy in all other models) the XS750 became the name for the export model. These bikes are usually referred to as “Triples” because they have 3 cylinders. The first 4 model years the bike displaced 750cc. This was increased to 850cc for the final 2 model years. There were various changes made to the model over the years.

Very few of these bikes seem to have been made and even fewer survived. The cast wheels were in an unpainted finish and the decals were in a distinctive stripe design on the tank and side panels. This bike had a 3-1 exhaust system, and Mikuni “Mark I” carburetors. The air box assembly was different from later years. The air filter could be changed by opening the seat. A number of these made it out to export markets in late 1976. This bike was pretty much the “C” with a paint job. The tank now sports the familiar piping around the contours picking out the detail. Problems with reliability led to a further release in 1977.Released to return confidence to the model with some modifications to the “D” model. The bike now had 3 into 2 exhaust system with silencers on both sides of the bike, and improvements made to the engine to improve reliability.

The now popular “2D” was upgraded to keep up with the market. Yamaha added electronic ignition this year but retained the mechanical timing advancing unit. They also replaced the carburetors for Mikuni “Mark II” CV models. These offered easier maintenance and a “two position enricher” (Choke) as opposed to the single position on the “Mark I” model. The engine again had some improvements including cam shafts to boost the power of the engine. As above but European models came with an optional 24 liter fuel tank and also a new paint scheme. The cast wheels from this year on were of the “tubeless design”. The 825cc replacement for the XS750 was a very similar beast. The engine received bigger barrels and pistons, a beefier crankshaft, a wider primary chain and better oil ways. The addition of an oil cooler helped keep things cool. The European 850 “G” came with the 24 liter tank as standard, plus a huge 8 dia headlight. Also added were frame improvements including a new swing arm mounting and alloy footrest carriers.(Also to be seen in some “F” models. In the United states, the 850 “G” had a more custom look with a seat with no tail piece like the “SG” and different side panels. The exhausts on the European models have an offset in them to improve ground clearance at the rear. The “LG” was the midnight special, sporting black and gold designs on the engine and other parts. The European models had a wider seat and tail piece than the 750’s, but looked much more like them than the American 850 “G”

As previous year. Also the last production year although models continued to sell for a few years after this. One final change, the ignition system was updated to electronic advanced timing and the mechanical advance assembly was removed. The “LH” was the midnight special, sporting black and gold designs on the engine and other parts.
