New IM App For The iPhone 4S-A Look At TU Me

The iPhone 4S features an excellent messaging facility that enables users to keep in touch with one another by sending short text messages. Despite the phone offering this excellent feature many users still opt to install additional messaging services that make it easier to chat with friends and family. Telefonica have launched their own application called TU Me which is perhaps the most impressive messaging system for the 4S that we have encountered.

Telefonica is one of the largest private telecommunication companies in the world and the number one Spanish multinational company. They have decades of experience in this area which they have applied to this very impressive new application for the iPhone 4S. The software is available as a free download from the iTunes App Store and competes directly with other similar applications such as Whatsapp and Viber. Where TU Me differs from many rival platforms is that it enables users to make voice calls and leave voice messages. In addition to this the usual features are all present such as the option to send short text messages, multi media files and location details. The application presents user with a very well designed interface that displays all content in a timeline which can be easily scrolled. A full record of all interactions is kept by the application and users can also search for a specific contact quite easily.

The iPhone 4S offers a wide range of great connectivity options and this is perfect for the Tu Me application. For people who spend much of their time travelling the software will work over a 3G connection which offers excellent data transfer speeds. A range of other mobile network connections are supported on a variety of worldwide networks. In addition to these types of connection the application also has the ability to work over WiFi networks. Not only does this type of connection provide the ultimate speeds but it also saves users needing to rely on a monthly data allowance. Stephen Shurrock is the Chief Commercial Officer for Telefonica Digital and he commented, “TU Me puts all your communications needs into one place, for free, and is a great way for people to stay in touch with those close to them”. At present the TU Me app is only available on the iOS platform but it is due to be launched for Android devices later in the year with other platforms set to follow close behind.

The TU Me software for the iPhone 4S is one of the most impressive communication applications currently available for this device. A simple interface makes the app a pleasure to use while the ability to instigate voice calls is a feature not boasted my many other pieces of rival software.

An Overview Of New Performance App For The HTC One S

The HTC One S is an excellent new smartphone with a range of superb features. The problem with a phone offering such a wide array of software and accessories is that they can all have a negative effect on the battery life and the performance of the model. Bitdefender Power Tune Up is an excellent new application for this phone that helps users to make the most of battery capacity and manage their data usage on this model.

There are a number of tricks and tips that can be applied to the settings of the HTC One S to optimise the performance of the phone but the new Bitdefender application does everything for you. This new piece of software is available for free from Google Play and is an excellent accessory for this phone or indeed any other Android device. There are a number of ways to use the application to enhance the battery life delivered by your phone. Users can specify periods of time when certain features of the phone are disabled and therefore place less strain on the battery. Typically this will be during the night when the phone may not be in use but when some features are still activated in case they are needed. In addition to this the phone will also switch into a special power saving mode when the battery level reaches a specified level. This may prove particularly useful for users who may be travelling and have no means of connecting their phone to a PC or a mains charger.

In addition to helping to preserve the battery life of the HTC One S Bitdefender also offers some useful tools that help users to keep track of their data usage. Many modern mobile contracts include a limited data allowance and once this is exceeded the costs can be very expensive to the user. Bitdefender also features a very handy clean up tool which is perfect for people who may be running a little low on storage capacity. This feature gives users a simple screen where they can delete data from the phones internal storage capacity and an external micro SD card if one is being used. Applications can also be deleted from within this area of the application. To help users get the most from this app widgets can be added to the home screen that allow the power saving modes to be easily activated and for data to be monitored without needing to physically launch the application.

Bitdefender Power Tune Up is a great application for the new HTC One S. The software helps users make the most of the limited battery life on the phone and also enables the easy management of data and files.

The Blackberry Bold 9900-Forthcoming Software May Only Work On New Models

Blackberry currently boast one of the most extensive ranges of mobile phones. This line up includes entry level Curve devices and more premium handsets such as the Blackberry Bold 9900. The company also recently unveiled their new Blackberry 10 operating system which they hope will help them to compete with other leading platforms such as iOS and Android. The bad news for owners of existing Blackberry devices is that this new software will not be made available for current models and new models will be launched that feature this new software.

The news that the new Blackberry OS will not work with existing handsets will disappoint thousands of users especially those who currently own flagship devices like the Bold 9900. Representatives from RIM, the company who produce the range, have commented that there is one device that will support the new platform and this is the excellent Playbook tablet. There are no exact dates about when the Playbook will make the change but we would expect to see it happen very shortly after the official launch which will be during the third quarter of 2012. Although the current range of smartphones will not support Blackberry 10 there is do doubt that RIM will continue to provide users with updates for existing platforms so that these phones will continue to provide excellent features that compare well with phones running on other software.

It looks as though the Blackberry Bold 9900 will cease to be the flagship model in the RIM range as it is expected that a number of new models will launch alongside the new software. This does not mean that the phone is out dated as it still is one of the leading phones currently on the market. The Bold 9900 offers an excellent 286PPI pixel density on its 2.8 inch screen. Although this screen is much smaller than most other smartphones it is worth remembering that the 9900 features a full qwerty keypad. This is a feature not present on many new phones and it is one of the main reasons why a large number of consumers still favour Blackberry handsets. The model sports a powerful 1.2Ghz processor which delivers performance speeds that are comparable to many dual core devices thanks to the excellent power management that the Blackberry OS offers. Other excellent features include a 5 mega pixel camera and 720P high definition video capture.

Although its days as the head of the Blackberry family may be numbered, the Bold 9900 still offers a wealth of great features that make it one of the ultimate handsets on the market. The keypad is an obvious attraction but a great screen and powerful processor also impress on this model.

An Overview Of Camera Performance On The Samsung Galaxy S3 And S2

There is no question that the Samsung Galaxy S2 was one of the smartphone success stories of 2011. This powerful mobile device has sold over 20 million units and still offers specification that eclipses what many new models can offer. In a bid to keep ahead of rival manufacturers the company how now unveiled the Samsung Galaxy S3, the successor to the popular S2. We compare the two devices to see how they differ in terms of screen technology and design.

One area where there are some big differences between the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the S2 is screen technology. The S2 features a large 4.3 inch screen which uses Samsung’s own Super AMOLED technology to produce some of the best image quality currently available. The model offers users a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels which means that 217 pixels can be displayed per inch. The new S3 model has raised the bar in this department by not only increasing the size of the display but also the resolution that it can offer. The new model features a very large 4.8 inch screen which is only slightly smaller than the massive display offered on the popular Galaxy Note. Once again this screen makes use of Super AMOLED technology but this time with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. This improved quality has a major effect on the pixel density which increases to an excellent 306 pixels per inch. This may be just short of what the iPhone 4S can offer but for a screen of this size this figure is really very impressive. In terms of screen technology the new S3 not only features a larger display but also one that totally eclipses it predecessor for technology.

When it comes to design we find that these two devices are a little more evenly matched. One area where we hoped that the Samsung Galaxy S3 would improve on the S2 was by using less plastic in the construction of the phones chassis but sadly this is still the main material and therefore the phone feels less robust than rival handsets like the iPhone 4S and the HTC One X. Despite offering a much larger display the new S3 manages to squeeze it into a body that is not much larger than the S2 thanks to a very slim bezel that surrounds the screen. The new handset boasts a design that is much curvier than the S2 which will please some consumers although those who favour a more angular design may prefer the older device. The S2 is available in a black or white finish but interestingly the traditional black option is not available with the new model. Users are given the choice of an attractive blue finish or a white variant.

The new Samsung Galaxy S3 is a superb new phone that is superior to its predecessor in terms of screen technology. When it comes to design and build quality however the model offers no dramatic improvements over the very stylish Galaxy S2.

The Nokia Lumia 900 And The HTC Titan 2-Which Display Is Better?

The Windows Mobile operating system has improved considerably over the past two years and some of the new handsets that support this platform compare very well against their rivals that adopt other operating systems such as Android and iOS. Two of the best windows devices currently available are the Nokia Lumia 900 and the HTC Titan 2 so we take a look and see which of these two models comes out on top.

In terms of design we find the Nokia Lumia 900 the most appealing of the two devices. The whole Lumia range of handsets boast excellent design and being the premium model in the range the Lumia 900 is the most attractive of all of them. The phone is not really similar to any other phone on the market which is in contrast to the Titan 2 which looks very similar to a number of other phones that HTC have released over the last two years. The Nokia sports a very angular design and the main body of the phone is made from a single piece of Polycarbonate which feels very robust and looks superb. The device measures 127.8 x 68.5 x 11.5mm while the weight of the model tips the scales at a rather heavy 160 grammes. The Titan 2 is an even larger handset thanks to the massive 4.7 inch screen that it incorporates. The model measures 132 x 69 x 13mm but what is surprising about this model is that it weighs 13 grammes less than the Lumia at 147 grammes. The HTC is also a very well built mobile phone and although it lacks the uni body design of its rival it is built from some lovely looking metals that help it to look expensive and also feel very well made. Both of these handsets offer a striking design and great build quality but the Lumia 900 comes out on top thanks to its more unusual appearance and more compact dimensions.

The Nokia Lumia 900 features a 4.3 inch screen which makes excellent use of AMOLED technology to deliver very bold colours and superb viewing angles. The screen can display a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels which equates to a reasonable pixel density of 217PPI. This figure is superior to the HTC Titan 2 which can display only 199 pixels per inch thanks to the same resolution being offered on a larger 4.7 inch screen. The HTC display uses S-LCD technology which delivers great image quality although when we tested the phones we found that the colours displayed on this device were not as vibrant as those on the Nokia. In addition to the better image quality the AMOLED screen on the Lumia 900 is also less demanding on the battery which helps the model to offer longer battery life. For users who are looking for a large screen for gaming and movie playback then the HTC will be the phone of choice but anybody prepared to accept a smaller screen will get better results from the excellent Nokia.

The Nokia Lumia 900 and the HTC Titan 2 are two superb phones that run on the excellent Windows operating system. Both of these models boast stylish looks but the Nokia does offer a slightly more unusual design while the model also produces superior image quality on its smaller display.

Cameras And Chipsets On The Samsung Galaxy S3 And The iPhone 4S

After a very long wait we have finally had the opportunity to spend some time with the excellent new Samsung Galaxy S3. This new device offers some really impressive specification coupled with a wide range of great features. We take a look at this new phone and see how it shapes up against one of the leading smartphones available, the iPhone 4S. Here we see how the phones differ for processing power and also how camera features compare on both models.

Both of these models are very evenly matched when it comes to processing power and performance. The new Samsung Galaxy S3 is the first quad core device to be produced by the company. The models runs on the ARM Cortex A9 architecture which includes a powerful 1.4Ghz Exynos 4212 processor which delivers some exceptional operation speeds. A powerful graphics processing unit is also on hand in the shape of a Mali 400MP chip. As one would expect the model performed flawlessly with no noticeable delay in loading applications or rendering internet pages. The iPhone 4S uses a more modest set up which includes a dual core 1Ghz ARM Cortex A9 based processor and a PowerVR SGX543MP2 graphics processing unit. On paper this set up may look inferior to what the new Samsung device offers but in practice it delivers an almost identical user experience thanks to the excellent optimisation of the iOS operating system which makes full use of every element of the processor.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 and the iPhone 4S both incorporate excellent camera features capable of capturing superb photographs and high quality video footage. The new S3 includes a still camera capable of recording images at a resolution of 8 million pixels. This feature is backed up by a wealth of additional features including an LED flash and face detection. On area where the Samsung does impress us is with some of the extra features that the camera feature boasts. A great example of this is the multi shot mode which will record a series of photographs in quick succession and then choose the best from this series of snaps. Users are also given the facility to capture photos while recording video footage at the same time. The model features a secondary front facing camera with a 2 mega pixel resolution and video is recorded at a resolution of 1080P. The iPhone 4S features a very similar camera feature to the S3. Video and still image resolution is the same from the primary camera although the Apple phone does lack some of the excellent new features that the Samsung offers. Image quality is very good however and this is helped by the developers including a wider aperture to enhance photographic quality. Both of these new models produce fantastic results but we feel that the new Galaxy S3 offers users more in the way of features in addition to a superior secondary camera.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 looks set to be a hugely popular model and the handsets compares very well with the iPhone 4S, one of the leading devices currently available. Both device offer excellent performance speeds although the Samsung offers the higher specification while the new S3 outshines it rival for photography thanks to the excellent features that it offers.

Music Magpie-A New Way To Make Money With Your iPhone 4S

It is easy to spend lots of money by using to your iPhone 4S to purchase applications that are available from the iTunes App Store. There are some apps available however that can actually make the user money. Music Magpie is an internet site that offers to purchase your unwanted CD’s, DVD’s and console games. The service is now available as an application for the iPhone 4S, making it easier than ever to turn your unwanted products into cash.

Music Magpie for the iPhone 4S is a well designed piece of software which makes the whole process of selling your goods a very simple affair. One thing we did notice from using the service is that the prices offered for items were quite low and realistically you could expect more from a second hand shop. Taking a pile of CD’s and movies to your nearest shop could prove a time consuming affair while using Music Magpie is quick and very simple. Typically we were offered around 70 pence for a music CD while DVD’s ranged from 90 pence to around £2. We also tried some older Xbox titles and these attracted similar offers. Nobody is going to get rich from using this application but if you have a cupboard full of old items you could make a nice amount of pocket money. In order to sell your goods you must have a minimum of ten items but Music Magpie does send a pre paid package label and if there are over 50 units a courier will be sent to your address to collect the items.

The Music Magpie application is very well designed piece of software for the iPhone 4S. The app makes uses of the primary camera which is located on the back panel of the phone. Simply point the phone at the barcode on your item and the software will give you a value on the item that you have scanned. In order to sell product users need to register an account but this is easily done on the phone. Each item that you scan is placed into your basket and this can be reviewed at any time and any items can be removed if necessary. If you do not have the time to scan all of your items in one session all products are kept in your basket for 48 hours so you can easily return and finish off at a later time. When it comes to receiving your money users can choose to be paid by a cheque or by e voucher and there is even an option to donate your amount to charity should you desire.

Music Magpie is one of those rare applications for the iPhone 4S that actually helps users to make money. The software is well designed and very easy to use. With many people relying on internet services for audio and video playback most consumers will have a plenty of CD’s and DVD’s that they no longer have a use for which can make them money by using this great app.

An Overview Of New Features On The Samsung Galaxy S3

The new Samsung Galaxy S3 has finally been unveiled and as expected the model boasts very high specification together with some superb new features. The handset looks set to follow in the footsteps of the Galaxy S2 which was launched in 2011. This model went on to become the biggest selling phone of last year and Samsung are keen for the new model to replicate the success of its predecessor. We take a look at some of the key features present on this new phone.

Smart Stay is an interesting new feature on the Samsung Galaxy S3 which makes uses of the front facing camera on the device to optimise the user experience. The secondary camera is used to detect the movement of your eyes so that the handset knows if you are looking at what is displayed on screen or not. Users are notified that this function is working by a small icon that appears at the top of the display. By using this technology the phone will automatically dim the screen if you are not currently viewing any material and therefore improving the battery performance that you can expect from the model. The service can also detect the task that you are currently performing on the phone and make small adjustments to improve your experience.

Another area where the Samsung Galaxy S3 offers some excellent options is when it comes to sharing material. The new Allshare feature enables the handset to be wirelessly connected to a compatible television so that multi media content such as photographs can be easily displayed on the large screen. A second superb sharing feature is incorporated on this model in the form of Buddy Share. This clever technology uses facial recognition to identify people who are featured in photographs that you capture with the handset. The phone can then automatically text or email these photos to the person involved. The sharing features on the S3 are very impressive and it helps to make using your phone a much more social experience.

In a bid to compete with the popular iPhone 4S the new Samsung Galaxy S3 includes the new S Voice service. This voice recognition software enables users to control the phone with their own voice. S Voice currently supports 8 different languages including English, German, Korean and Spanish. A multitude of different tasks can be performed with this facility including initiating calls, sending e mails, requesting a song and waking the handset. Each of these tasks is performed with simple commands such as “snooze” which will silent the alarm on the phone and set it to activate again after a designated amount of time.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 not only impresses with its excellent specification but also with some of the excellent features that are included. S Voice is a great rival to the Siri service on the iPhone and the new Smart Stay technology helps preserve battery life by fully utilising the front facing camera on the phone.

New Science Application For The iPhone 4S

A brand new application has launched for the iPhone 4S that gives users a guided tour of certain exhibits from the Science Museum in London. The new James May Science Stories application is now available from the iTunes App store for just £1.99. We take a look at what this exciting new software has to offer.

This new application for the iPhone 4S is not only endorsed by James May, presenter of the popular television series Top Gear, but it also features his voice and body within the application. This new software makes clever use of augmented reality so that the presenter appears on screen when you visit the museum and walk around the exhibits. The application provides a running narration on the exhibit that you are viewing. Even if you do not have time to visit the museum in London you can still take a virtual tour with the application. One of the most impressive aspect of this app is how well it blends content on the phone with what you can see at the museum. As you walk around chosen exhibits you view James May’s on screen character from different angles. At certain points the character that you see on screen actually casts a real shadow on the item you are viewing which helps to merge virtual reality and physical reality.

At this moment in time there are nine exhibits which work with the James May Science Stories app for the iPhone 4S. The developers of the software have also promised that future updates will see more exhibits added. During the launch of this software James Made a very interesting point that this application could give us a glimpse into how we may view video content that is broadcast in the future. Despite only providing actual voice narration the application does a wonderful job of making the user believe that he is actually in the room with them. Not only does the software look very impressive but it is also very easy to use. When visiting the museum the exhibits that are supported by the app are listed on the phones screen. Select the exhibit you are currently viewing and point the phone at the special marker which is located on top of a plinth. James May then appears on top of this plinth on the phones screen to guide you through the most important aspects of the item that you are interested in.

This new application for the iPhone 4S is one of the best examples of smartphone augmented reality software. Not only is Science Stories very easy to use but it delivers a host of useful information in an innovative and fun manner.

The Superb Samsung Galaxy S3-A Look Around The Features Of This Model

After months of speculation the new Samsung Galaxy S3 has finally been unveiled. Just a few hours ago Samsung hosted a major event at Earls Court in London where they introduced guests to their new flagship model. The phone is the successor to the Galaxy S2 which has sold over 20 million units to date. The manufacturers hope this model will achieve similar success and that is a distinct possibility judging by the excellent specification that it offers.

The one area that has generated the most rumours about the Samsung Galaxy S3 is with regards to screen quality. Every rumour correctly suggested that the model would feature a larger screen than the Galaxy S2 and we can now confirm that a 4.8 inch screen will be used on the phone. The model will make use of Super AMOLED technology which is renowned for producing vibrant colours and deep dark tones. An impressive resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels can be displayed and the screen is constructed from toughened Gorilla Glass to help the phone stay in good condition for longer. One new feature present on this screen is a sensor that tracks the eyes of the user. This ensures that the phone will not dim or lock itself while you are looking at it. Samsung have fully utilised the sensors that are present on this model. A great example of this is when you are viewing a contact in your phone book, simply lifting the phone to your face will automatically call this person.

One of the key features of the iPhone 4S was the introduction of the Siri voice assistant and the new Samsung Galaxy S3 has some impressive voice recognition software of its own. This new service is called S-Voice and it allows users to command the phone using their normal, natural voice. This means that simple actions such as adjusting the volume can be performed by the user simply saying “volume up”. There has not been much of a boost in still camera resolution which is 8 million pixels. The secondary camera however has seen a significant rise in quality to 1.9 mega pixels. Some helpful features have been added to the camera facility such as a twenty shot burst mode and an extremely fast shutter speed. High definition video footage can also be captured by the model at a resolution of 1080P.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 impresses us in nearly every department. The screen offers great quality and a manageable size while the phone makes excellent use of the sensors that it has on board. Some new features have also been added to the camera feature to help user capture excellent photographs.

Super Screen Technology On The Samsung Galaxy Note And The Lumia 900

The modern mobile smartphone consumer tends to favour a device with a large screen which is perfect for web browsing, mobile gaming and video playback. Two devices that fall into this category are the Samsung Galaxy Note and the Nokia Lumia 900. These handsets are produced by two of the real heavyweights of the smartphone world but how do they compare for design and screen technology? We take a closer look and see which model comes out on top.

When it comes to design we tend to favour the very modern Nokia Lumia 900 device as it boasts styling which is superior to the majority of handsets currently on the market. The handset measures 127.8 x 68.5 x 11.5mm which makes it the largest Lumia device in the range. The handset is still considerably smaller than the Galaxy Note however which measures 146.9 x 83 x 9.7mm although this model does offer a screen which is one inch larger. Because of its more compact dimensions the Nokia generally feels more comfortable when in use and also weighs 19 grammes less than its rival. The Lumia is a very well designed phone which sports an angular design similar to other Lumia devices and also the popular N9 handset. The model boasts a uni body chassis which adds to the aesthetic appeal and this is constructed from a high quality polycarbonate material. The model is also available in a range of colours which helps to make it one of the very best phones for consumers who rate looks as highly as performance. The Samsung Galaxy Note is best described as an enlarged version of the Galaxy S2 model. The device sports a minimalist design with neatly rounded corners and a textured back panel. The design of the model is actually more attractive than the majority of phones available but the device loses points for its sheer size which many would suggest makes the phone look like a small tablet device rather than a smartphone. A new white version of the Note has been launched which will please consumers who like to steer clear of the more common black and dark grey devices.

Although the size of the screen on the Samsung Galaxy Note may deter some consumers, the quality that it offers is superb. The models uses a Super AMOLED display which measures 5.3 inches which makes it the largest phone screen currently available. An impressive pixel density of 285 pixels per inch can be displayed thanks to the very high resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. What is also very pleasing about this display is the natural depth of colour that it can can show. Black colours genuinely look black unlike the dark greys that can often be found on many inferior screens. This is thanks to the Super AMOLED technology which is undoubtedly the best type of screen for providing dark tones. The Nokia Lumia 900 uses a smaller 4.3 inch display which runs on AMOLED technology. This model can display a lower resolution than the Samsung of 800 x 480 pixels but despite the smaller screen size the pixel density if considerably lower at 217PPI which is slightly disappointing for a flagship device. The clarity of picture is very good and like the Galaxy Note there is a good depth of colour but the Samsung certainly offers more in the way of quality in this area.

The Samsung Galaxy Note and the Nokia Lumia 900 are two impressive new devices which benefit from high quality displays. We prefer the Nokia handset for design as it is a more manageable size than its rival but when it comes to screen quality the Galaxy Note definitely holds the upper hand.

The HTC One X And The Nokia Lumia 900 Benefit From Modern Styling

Over the past three years the Android operating system and the iOS platform used by Apple phones have enjoyed dominance in the smartphone market. Recently we have seen a number of improvements on the Windows operating system and in 2012 the platform is hoping to provide much more of a challenge to the likes of Android and iOS. We take a look at the new Nokia Lumia 900, the flagship Windows device in the Nokia range and see how it compares with the HTC One X, the premium Android device from HTC.

There is very little to choose between these two devices in terms of design. Both models sport modern styling combined with some excellent build quality. The Nokia Lumia 900 is basically a larger version of the popular Lumia 800 device that was launched earlier in the year. The handset sports a very angular design that is in stark contrast to many of the more rounded devices that are currently available. The chassis of the phone is made from a single piece of polycarbonate which is very tough and also very light which helps the handset weigh in at a very impressive 160 grammes. The model has been released in a selection of different colours to help give consumers a little more choice over the appearance of their phone. The HTC One X boasts a totally different type of styling from the One X but one that is equally as appealing. The model features more curves than the Nokia but the handset also uses a uni body shell which feels incredibly well made. This shell offers a textured finish which helps to make the phone feel very comfortable in the palm of your hand. The overall dimensions of the phone are 134.4 x 69.9 x 8.9mm and the model weighs even less than the Lumia at just 130 grammes. Despite their different designs both models offer very modern looks that are sure to appeal to consumers everywhere.

Being the two flagship devices in their respective ranges both models feature the very latest in screen technology although the HTC One X impresses us slightly more in this department. The models uses a very large 4.7 inch display which runs on the very latest Super IPS LCD2 technology which produces vivid colours and excellent viewing angles. In terms of resolution the One X can display 1280 x 720 pixels which results in a fantastic pixel density of 312PPI. The multi touch screen is constructed from Gorilla Glass which is much stronger than traditional glass panels which helps it to keep in better condition for longer. The Nokia Lumia 900 uses a smaller screen which utilises Super AMOLED technology. This type of display is regarded by many people as being the best type of screen on the market but the Nokia loses ground on the HTC by offering a lower resolution. The handset can display 800 x 480 which results in a much lower pixel density of 217 pixels per inch. There is no doubt that this display works well but when compared to the One X the HTC device definitely holds the upper hand for screen performance.

The HTC One X and the Nokia Lumia 900 are both super handsets that run on impressive operating systems. Both models are very pleasing on the eye and boast great screen technology but the HTC model eclipses its rival when it comes to display quality.

The Super HTC One X To benefit From New Google Drive Service

Just two years ago one of the most important elements of mobile smartphones was the storage capacity that they offered. As screen size and processing power continued to grow the handsets became ideal for playing back a wealth of multi media content including audio and video files. The down side to these file is that they occupied a large amount of the phones storage capacity and as a result phones were introduced offering massive amounts of capacity. Recently new cloud storage services have become popular which have reduced the need for large internal capacity on many models. Internet giants Google are now set to launch their own service for devices like the HTC One X.

Cloud storage services basically involve the users data being stored at a remote location known as the cloud. Services such as this offer numerous advantages over internal storage. The fact that the files are located centrally means that they can be accessed from other devices. This means that users can view their photographs and other data from their laptop computer or home PC. The other main advantage of this type of system is that if the mobile phone is lost or stolen important data remains safe. This data can then be easily transferred to a new device. Cloud storage has increased in popularity over the last few months with several companies offering consumers varying amounts of storage. Users of the HTC One X can already use the Dropbox service thanks to a deal between the company and HTC. Users are given 25GB of free storage for two years. Apple have also recently launched their popular iCloud service for users running an iOS device. The new Google Drive facility may prove to be the most popular of all. Google design the Android operating system which is the OS that is used by most smartphones and therefore integration of this new service is likely to be superb on these phones.

The HTC One X does offer users 16GB of internal storage but user can extend on this with the help of Google Drive. Although there has been no official confirmation about exactly what the new system will offer it is expected that users will be allocated a designated amount of free storage capacity. This is likely to be somewhere around the 5GB level but user can opt to increase their capacity by paying an annual subscription. It is expected that Google will allocate additional storage in steps of 100GB. No prices have been announced but Google will be keen to compete with other similar platforms so expect them to be very attractive. Another advantage of Google Drive over other services is that it will easily intergrate with a number of other Google services. Data from Google Docs will be able to be remotely stored and PDF files will also be accommodated.

Users of the HTC One X have the choice of numerous cloud storage service but the introduction of Google Drive may ultimately prove to be the best available thanks to Google’s years of experience in providing consumers with excellent software for both smartphones and computers.

The Nokia Lumia 900 And The HTC One X-A Look At Photography Features

This year we are expecting the Windows Mobile operating system to compete much more closely with other leading platforms such as Android and iOS. The new Nokia Lumia 900 is the best Windows device currently available thanks to its high quality display and powerful chipset. We see how this model shapes up in terms of processing power and camera features against the flagship Android device from HTC, the impressive One X.

As you would expect from two premium models both of these handsets offer powerful chipsets that enable users to carry out a variety of tasks at excellent speeds. The HTC One X runs on the superb Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset which includes a powerful quad core processor. This ARM Cortex A9 chip delivers superb multi tasking speeds thanks the four cores and the excellent 1.5Ghz of power that it offers. This processor is teamed with a ULP Geforce graphics processing unit which easily handles demanding video content and games titles. This set up works superbly but at present much of the software included on the phone cannot take full advantage of all four cores and normally relies on just two. As software advances we can expect this model to offer even more impressive operating speeds. The Nokia Lumia 900 uses an APQ Scorpion 8055 processor which is clocked at 1.4Ghz. This chip only boasts a single operating core but still manages to deliver superb operating speeds thanks to the power efficiency of the Windows operating system. An Adreno 205 GPU is also present on the phone to help the device handle complex content that can be found on many modern games. Despite the HTC offering quad core technology at this moment in time there is little to choose between these handset in terms of operating speeds. As software develops that can make more use of quad core technology we can expect the One X to deliver superior times.

The Nokia Lumia 900 incorporates an excellent camera facility that can capture high quality still images and impressive video footage. The model sports an 8 mega pixel still camera together with a high quality Carl Zeiss lens. This combination helps the model to capture excellent results. A number of features are on hand to help users to record the best possible images including a dual LED flash and a useful smile detection feature that captures the image the exact moment that your subjects smile. The HTC One X also includes an 8 mega pixel camera which benefits from a high quality BSI sensor. This helps the model produce snaps of a similar quality to the Nokia but the handsets offers much more in the way of additional features. All of the usual extras are present on this model as well as some more unusual technology not usually found on modern smartphones. The handsets features a dedicated camera chip so images can be taken at the same time as video footage is being recorded. A very useful burst mode can record a series of 20 photographs captured just a fraction of a second apart. This allows users to look at the series of shots and pick the best image to store and discard the rest.

The Nokia Lumia 900 and the HTC One X both deliver very similar operation speeds although the quad core technology present on the HTC will benefit the handset in the future. In terms of photography the models offer a similar standard of image quality but the HTC impresses us more thanks to the sheer number of excellent additional features that it incorporates.

The Nokia Lumia 800-Facebook Update Brings New Features

The Nokia Lumia 800 is a new smartphone that offers a host of great connectivity options that enable users to take advantage of a number of great internet features. One area of this phone which benefits from the excellent connectivity is social networking. The majority of phone users have at least one social networking account and Facebook is the service that most people will use regularly. A new update is due to be introduced to the Windows Facebook application that will help it to deliver more features and functionality.

Details of the new Facebook update for the Nokia Lumia 800 were posted on the social networking site. Version 2.5 of the software will include a number of new features to help the service to deliver an experience similar to what users expect from using the full Facebook software on a PC or a laptop. A statement released by the Facebook team stated, “the team has been working hard over the past few weeks on building the next version of Facebook for Windows Phone, and as we’re getting close to release”. Although we have not been given exact details of when the update will be released we do know some of the new features that it will boast. One of the main changes that will be introduced will be threaded messages for group and single contact interaction. This basically means that the software will display both sides of the conversation on screen in chronological order. This is instead of simply viewing the last message that had been sent.

A number of other great features will be available on Facebook for the Nokia Lumia 800 thanks to the new update. Full geo tagging will be enabled which means that any material posted by the user can have a geographical location attached to it so friends can see where the material was posted from. This is perfect if you are enjoying your summer holidays but perhaps not as useful if you are sitting on your sofa at home. In version 2.5 of the software users can choose to “like” comments that other users leave on their posts and pictures. Instead of logging into the full internet site to delete content from your wall users will now be able to use the application to perform this task, a feature that was missing from earlier versions of the software. The other big change that the update will deliver will be the ability to view and add active content to posts. This will mean that video and audio files can easily be accessed form the Lumia 800.

Facebook 2.5 for the Nokia Lumia 800 certainly includes some impressive features that will appeal to the majority of consumers who use the site on a regular basis. The ability to view threaded conversation is a real attraction while the new geo tagging features and active content also add appeal to the software.

The Sony Xperia S And The Galaxy Note Blend Great Styling And Super Screens

The Xperia S is the new flagship mobile device from Sony. This models is part of Sony’s first range without the help of Ericsson, the company who they have co produced numerous handsets with over the last decade. We see how this new device measures up against the new Samsung Galaxy Note, a mobile phone that boasts the largest display currently available on the market. We compare the design and display quality on both of these handsets.

The design of a modern handset is a vital aspect as manufacturers attempt to make their models stand out from the competition. Both Samsung and Sony are renowned for the stylish design so it is no surprise that both of these models offer a great looks and modern design. The Samsung Galaxy Note is a handset that will not appeal to all consumers because of its large size. The fact that the model sports a 5.3 inch screen means that the measurements of this device are rather large at 146.9 x 83 x 9.7mm. This may deter some consumers but those who are looking for a large screened phone will have no problem with extra size. The model weighs 178 grammes and looks very similar in design to other phones recently launch by the company such as the Samsung Galaxy S2. An attractive slim bezel surrounds the screen and the back panel boasts a textured finish which looks superb and also makes the device very comfortable to hold. Despite being constructed mainly from plastic the model feels well constructed and very robust. The new Sony Xperia S offers a more angular design with more flat surfaces and razor edges. There are still some curves present on the model but these can be found on the back panel which is gently curved. This gives the phone an attractive D shaped cross section which is similar to previous Xperia handsets. In terms of dimensions the model is a more manageable 128 x 64 x 10.6mm and weighs just 144 grammes. Both of these models offer an attractive design but the more compact dimensions of the Sony may be more appealing to many consumers.

The key selling point of the new Samsung Galaxy Note is the large display but despite the impressive dimensions the Sony Xperia S manages to outshine its rival in terms of quality. The Sony uses an LED backlit LCD screen which measures 4.3 inches. The resolution of this screen is 1280 x 720 pixels which produces a pixel density of 342PPI, a level that puts this phone ahead of all other Android devices currently available. Sony have added some excellent technology to help the screen to produce even higher quality images such as the Bravia Picture Engine which helps to produce naturally deep colours. The Samsung Galaxy Note incorporates a very large 5.3 inch Super AMOLED screen that is perfect for consumers looking for a large mobile phone or a smaller tablet device. The resolution displayed by this screen is 1280 x 800 which is very impressive but when combined with the massive display results in a pixel density of 285PPI. This figure is still impressive but considerably lower than what the Xperia S has to offer.

The Sony Xperia S is an impressive new device that perfectly blends an eye catching design with an excellent display. The Samsung Galaxy Note also impresses in both of these departments but still falls slightly behind the Sony for design and screen quality. For consumers looking for a very large screen however the Galaxy Note is the perfect handset.

The Sony Xperia S-We Take A Look AT The After Touch App

The majority of modern smartphones boast some superb camera features and one of the leading devices in this area is the Sony Xperia S. This excellent new phone includes a 12 million pixel primary camera that can capture very high quality images. A range of applications are available for consumers that enable them to add effects to their images to give them a much more professional appearance. One of the newest apps available for the Xperia S is After Focus, a new piece of software which offers some brilliant features.

Unlike may photo editing applications currently available After Focus does not boast any social networking features that enable you to upload images directly to certain sites. This software is a stand alone photo editing tool and it is perfect for preparing your images before you upload them to other services. After Focus enables users of the Sony Xperia S to take a photograph from within the application or choose to edit another image that has already been captured with the phone. One of the most attractive features that this application offers is the ability to make certain areas of you image appear blurred which helps make the segment of the image that is in focus stand out even more. Users can opt to achieve this effect by simply circling the area that needs to remain focused on the screen. Alternatively the manual mode allows the blur to be applied at various levels on specified areas of the shot. This effect produces some fantastic results and it looks superb on the Xperia S thanks to the large display and excellent image quality that is on offer.

The After Touch application for the Sony Xperia S also offers a wealth of other features in addition to the focus modes that we have discussed. A wide array of filters are available that help give your image a very different look. The usual filters are all available including Sepia which takes most of the colour out of the shot to leave a photograph with an attractive vintage effect. Once you have created an image that you are happy with the photo can be saved to your photo collection on the handset. From here users can choose to share the image by using the Android Share feature on the phone which easily enables the shot to be uploaded to sites such as Picassa and Facebook or sent in an e mail. This process does take slightly longer than alternative apps that have share features incorporated but it is a small price to pay for achieving such excellent final results.

After Focus is a powerful photo editing tool for the Sony Xperia S. Despite the lack of social networking integration the software still impresses thanks to a range of excellent options that help users to achieve some wonderful images.

The iPhone 5-A Second Nano Device May Also Be Released

Since the original iPhone was launched in 2007 the Apple device has dominated the premium smartphone market. The handsets have been a global success thanks to the innovative new features that each new version of the phone delivers. This year we are preparing for the launch of the new iPhone 5 and it also looks likely that Apple will also release a second device with this phone that targets consumers looking for a more basic device.

Rumours have been circulating about an iPhone Nano for some time now. Although the Apple iPhone has achieved phenomenal success in the premium end of the market a number of other manufacturers such as Samsung and HTC produce a number of models, many of which are targeted towards the more budget end of the market. It looks like 2012 may be the year when Apple choose to spread their wings and launch an assault on the entire phone market rather than just the premium end. Even when new iPhone models are released the older versions of the handset still command huge fees. At present the iPhone 3GS which is two years old still retails at £300 without a contract which is a price much higher than many brand new Android budget phones. There is certainly a gap in the market for a wallet friendly iPhone and by launching the device alongside the new iPhone 5 Apple will be sure to keep their premium fans happy along with a host of new consumers.

We are expecting to see the new iPhone 5 released in June so consumers may not have long to wait until they can get their hands on this model and the new budget version of the iPhone. At this moment in time the specification of this more basic iPhone does remain a mystery. With the iPhone 5 we can be fairly certain of some of the specification as we can take a look at how older models have progressed. This will be a brand new product so one could only hazard a guess at what specification Apple will include on the model. The Nano handset will definitely be a smaller version of the iPhone 5. Over the past two years the company have excelled at producing the best 3.5 inch displays so it is very likely that the new model may feature one of these. The new iPhone 5 is also set to feature a quad core processor so expect a version of the A4 chipset used on the iPhone 4 to also be included on the new budget iPhone.

Premium phone fans everywhere are eager to see exactly what the iPhone 5 will offer and it looks as though Apple will introduce a second model perfect for users looking for the famous Apple functionality but minus the very high price that the new iPhone 5 will command.
